The 40th anniversary of Administration and Organization Theory as a department was celebrated with a great anniversary conference the 12th of November, 2009. Key Note Speakers were Johan P. Olsen and Dietrich Rueschemeyer.

The Department must find a new identity
Johan P Olsen, perhaps the most famous researcher within administration and organization theory, was one of the guests of honour at the departments’ anniversary conference. Olsen was one of the pioneers behind the formation of the scientific community in Bergen and was for 24 years associated with the University of Bergen. At the anniversary conference though, he was just as keen to look ahead as to celebrate the past.

Looking ahead at the age of forty
The Department of Administration and Organization Theory marked the scientific community's forty years at the University of Bergen with an anniversary conference. New and old scholars of the department from far and wide showed up to listen to a rich programme, with both lectures of international capacities within the field and previous students from the department who discussed the relevance of their education for their professional careers.
