That 70′s Jazz

In the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s, jazz took some new turns. Other popular contemporary genres, such as rock and funk, inspired musicians to develop sub-genres like jazz-fusion and funk-jazz. Heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, jazz-fusion was spearheaded by the legendary bandleader and trumpeter Miles Davis. Funk-jazz, on the other hand, is best known through the music of Herbie Hancock. Tonight, students from the Grieg Academy will revoke the spirit of that 70′s jazz.
