Global Research at BIO
Many of the basic and applied ecological questions BIO's research groups seek to address are also relevant in other areas of the globe, where biodiversity is often far higher and environmental concerns more pressing than it is in Northern Europe.
Some key topics include biodiversity, climate, environment, global changes, marine ecosystems and fisheries, microbiology, oil and pollution.
Global Research involves about 25% of the BIO staff. This research is done in collaboration with colleagues in many of UIB's collaborating institutions in the Himalayas, the Nile Basin, and Latin-America.
