BIOglobal projects
Global Research involves about 25% of the BIO staff. This research is done in collaboration with colleagues in many of UIB's collaborating institutions in many countries, including the Himalayas, the Nile Basin, and Latin-America.

The 2009 NBRS working group on Biodiversity and Land-use Change collaborates closely with scientists from BIO.
NOMA - "Regional Master program in Biodiversity and Environmental Management"
BIO participates with Tribhuvan University, UNIFOB Global and Kunming University to provide the first Masters level education in Biodiversity and Environmental Management in the Himalayas. 14 MSc students from Tribhuvan University visited BIO for one semester's studies 2008, 14 more will come in 2010.
NFR FRIMUF "MATRIX" project 2008 - 2012
A research project on forest biodiversity in Uganda, employing 4 PhD and 6 MSc students from UIB and Makerere Universities.
NFR FRIMUF "HIMALINES" project 2009 - 2012
A research project on land-use and biodiversity in Himalaya, employing 1 Postdoc in ecology and 1 PhD in environmental law. The project is a collaboration with UNIFOB Global, department of Law and BIO at UIB, and Tribhuvan University.
