CCBIO Lecture

Lars A. Akslen
Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Bergen

The Centre of Cancer Biomarkers (CCBIO) is a recently started Norwegian Centre of Excellence headed by Prof. Lars A. Akslen.

The vision and goal of the CCBIO is to discover, validate and translate cancer biomarkers to improve biological understanding, diagnosis of aggressive phenotypes and treatment of cancer. The centre will focus on tumour-microenvironment interactions that define contextual cancer progression and aggressive tumour features, i.e. how contextual signals, locally and systemically, conspire to illicit aggressive tumour cell features that ultimately determine cancer prognosis, beyond what is given by the accumulation of genetic alterations in tumour cells.

The CCBIO lecture series will initially introduce the different PI´s and their research and later aim to invite leading scientists active in cancer research of relevance for the centre.
