About the CIH
The Centre for International Health was established in 1988 under the Board of UiB, and from 2008 as a Department at MOF. CIH was established as a strategic department for development related research, education and leadership development on Global Health issues. CIH has a particular obligation to initiate, co-ordinate and conduct research and capacity building of importance for the collaboration between the UiB and low-income countries in the field of health.
Over the period from 1988 CIH has developed from a small research centre to the leading and largest institution in this field in Norway, with a strong national and international network. This has been achieved through an efficient scientific and administrative leadership conducive to innovate and dynamic initiatives by the scientific staff.
The main activities are anchored in Research clusters and research groups in collaboration with other departments and a Research school of International Health (Master & PhD).
