Language of Instruction
English if English-speaking students attend the seminars, otherwise Norwegian
Pre-requirements
DASP101 or equivalent.
Learning Outcomes
Students will learn to apply modelling methods from artificial intelligence and machine learning to linguistic knowledge and processes. They will understand the relevance of such models for computational linguistics, psycholinguistics and language technology. They will construct models for scientific and technological problems in natural language processing through programming and testing.

Aim and Content
Theories and techniques for modelling linguistic knowledge and simulating linguistic processes. These may include: semantic networks, pattern recognition, goal-driven and data-driven planning, advanced search, heuristics, rule based systems, frames, constraint propagation, logic and resolution, machine learning, neural networks, probabilistic and statistical models or evolutionary models - to name but a few.
