Aim and Content

Networked publishing and communication is becoming an increasingly important part of modern humanists´ scholarly work. This course gives you basic knowledge concerning: networking technology, different formats that are used in online publishing, technologies used when handling these formats, as well as training in adaptation and the use of different mediums for networked communication. In this course we emphasise how the different technologies can be assessed from a humanist point of view, and we provide practical knowledge concerning technologies used for online publishing and communication.

Teaching Methods

Lectures in the computer lab, five two hour sessions. The teaching is intensive over a shorter period of time with a subsequent exam. It is therefore important that the students keep themselves updated regarding the schedule.

If less than five students are registered to a course, the departement might reduce the teaching, please see the departement´s guidelines regarding this on "My page". Regarding a course where this is a possibility the students get information about this at the beginning of the semester, and before the deadline regarding semesterregistration 1.February/1.September.

Compulsory Requirements

Submission of two compulsory assignments and the publication of one of these on the net within the set deadlines.

Assessment methods

Portfolio assessment. The folder will contain the two compulsory assignments and a report of 1000 words.

Grade scale A-F.

Reading List

About 300 pages of assigned reading.
