Aim and Content

Game theory tries to understand observed phenomena when several actors affect each other. As elsewhere in economics, the basic hypothesis is that each participant seeks well-defined goals (instrumental rationality) and at the same time takes into account knowledge and expectations related to the choices of others. This theory is a foundation stone for modern social analysis. It is fairly abstract and can therefore be used in the study of a wide range of phenomena.
