Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with a broader understanding of the English language in a synchronic and diachronic perspective, and to foster a critical and independent approach to linguistic questions. The course also aims to improve students' use of English.
At the 200 level the course in English linguistics can function as either ENG211 or ENG251. The course covers topics within the following areas: history of the English language and modern English linguistics.

Recommended previous knowledge
