Compulsory Requirements

The students have the right and obligation to supervision of their work on the semester paper. At least two supervision meetings are required. The students are obligated to keep the deadlines for submitting work and supervision that have been determined by the course instructor. Students who do not follow these guidelines lose the right to take the course exam.

Assessment methods

There is an exam in ENG252 each semester.

The exam is a supervised semester paper of 4-5000 words (about 12-15 pages), bibliography and attachments not included, on a topic chosen by the students in cooperation with the course teacher.

Additionally, there is an oral exam where the students will be examined in the whole curriculum as well as their semester paper. The semester paper must be passed before the students can take the oral exam. The oral exam has a separate grade.

When determining the final grade for the course, the semester paper counts two thirds and the oral exam one third. The students must pass both exams in order to pass the course.

Grading Scale

The grading scale is A-F, where F is a fail.
