Aim and Content

The module is aiming at providing an overview and deeper understanding of various aspects related to tidal theory. It covers development of the tidal force and potential in the equation of motion, harmonic development of the tidal potential, the principles of the equilibrium tidal theory, harmonic analysis and the geophysical manifestation of tidal phenomena. As an integral part of the course, students will self dependently? study and present individual research papers about selected aspects of modern tidal related research.
