Pre-requirements

Students must have oral and written proficiency in Italian at an intermediate level, such as that acquired from the basic courses ITAL111-114.

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide the students with a broad and deep understanding of Italian literature and history of ideas. The required reading includes texts from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Students will develop a critical and independent understanding of early Italian literature.

During the course, the students will also be taught fundamental techniques of textual analysis.
