Aim and Content
The course will give an understanding of the Norwegian media system's characteristics and how it is organized and operate in an international and global context. The Norwegian media system provides an interesting case for comparison. The media system plays a key role in developing and fostering democratic conditions in Norway, and is characterized by a high level of press freedom, serves as arena for freedom of speech, and is populated by strong public service broadcasting institutions.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- give an overview of the characteristics and organization of the Norwegian media system in a global context
- critically assess the role of this media system in the Norwegian society.

Teaching Methods
Primarily in the form of lectures.
Compulsory Requirements
Submission of a written exercise.
Accepted (mandatory) exercise is valid this term and the following term of exam.
Assessment methods
4 hours written school exam (in English or Norwegian).
