The course is a basic introduction to a systematic approach for dealing with issues related to the working environment, the external environment, and safety. The students will become acquainted with basic methods, tools and ways of organizing HES work, and with the legal basis of such work. They will also become familiar with the build-up of an HES organization, and its duties

Aim and Content
The course starts with providing a global overview of the HES concept, and its legal basis. Further topics include HMS-management and control, and evaluation of risks (method, major accidents, external environment). Then follows a review of efficiency evaluation fro chemical, physical and biological factors in the working environment. Finally the human factor and its influence on the working environment are discussed.

Assessment methods
The exam consist of a written part (counts 50%) and a project report (counts 50%). Both parts must be passed to pass the exam as a whole. The written exam can be replaced by a oral exam if it is fewer than 10 students. It is only possible to submit the project report in a semester when the course is offered. The project report is valid for 3 semester. Letter marks.
Grading Scale
The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
