Objectives
To give a detailed understanding of the digestive process, especially physiology and patho-physiology. Pathology is only presented to increase the understanding of what the different digestive processes means for a good health.
Contents
The course gives an introduction in detail to the different processes of digestion that are of special relevance for clinical problems. In a systematic order the lectures deals with internal organs (esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, bile-ducts, pancreas), structure of the organs will be explained and also what function they have due to digestion and absorption of food. The students will also be presented to the most important diseases in these organs, and how the intake of food affects diseases, and the other way around, how diseases affect the intake of food and digestion.

Compulsary Activities (separate requirements)
Practical lab-work and demonstration in the clinic of breathing-test for carbohydrate-intolerance. Seminar and assignment with an oral presentations.
Assessment / Examination Format
Oral exam (50%) and assignment with presentation (50%).
