The course is designed to introduce the students to the construction of psychological tests and scales. Through practical work, the students are also given experience in the use of major statistical tools used for test development.

Aim and Content
Development of psychological tests:
- Psychometric theory and methods
- Measurement errors, reliability, component analysis
- Validity forms and procedures for testing them
- Cross-cultural aspects of tests
Basic principles of central procedures for data reduction:
- Exploratory factor analysis
- Confirmatory factor analysis
- "Latent class analyses"
The students will also learn about the relationship between latent and observed variables. They will get grounding in relevant computer programs, as well as knowledge of graphic aids for use in multivariate analyses.

Assessment methods
Approval of the course is the award of a "Pass" for a course exam. Students are permitted to take the exam when they have completed the course activities and approval has been given. A Pass/Fail grade is awarded.

The syllabus and suggested literature totals around 400 pages and supplements the literature for the other method courses.
