Research at The Department of Clinical Dentistry
The Department of Clinical Dentistry focuses on translational research based on a clinical approach. The research is strengthened through 4 thematic research groups:
• Biomaterials
• Craniofacial Development and Function
• Oral Infections and Inflammations
• Patient and community based clinical dental research
The research groups carry out projects financed by the Research Council of Norway, Helse Vest and Fylkestannlegene.
The Center for Clinical Dental Research is the Department's tool in research. The main task of the Centre is to strengthen and catalyse research at the Department, with special emphasis on clinical research.
The Department's research is carried out in close cooperation with other institutes at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, such as The Gade Institute, The Department of Biomedicine and The Centre for International Health. The Department of Clinical Dentistry also participates in research projects together with the Dental University Hospital.
The Department of Clinical Dentistry produces approximately 50 scientific publications and 5 PhD dissertations a year. In addition, the Department is responsible for the student research program for students within the field of dentistry, financed by the Research Council of Norway.
