It is a great pleasure to invite you to the Second Meeting of the EASD Study Group on Genetics of Diabetes (EASD-SGGD) April 22-25, 2009 and to the 44th Annual Meeting of the Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes (SSSD), April 24-26, 2009. These meetings will be organized as a joint conference, which we hope will inspire to fruitful interactions between those working on basic, clinical and genetic aspects of diabetes. The event will take place in Bergen, Norway, and Solstrand Hotel has been chosen as the venue. It is a hotel renowned for its excellent food, extraordinary atmosphere and beautiful view of the Bjørne Fjord and Folgefonna Glacier.
You have the option of registering for one or both meetings. We hope that the panel of more than 30 diabetes experts will ensure a high quality of the scientific part of the program, which includes keynote lectures and seminars on topics such as monogenic beta-cell disease, genome-wide association studies, novel disease mechanisms and exocrine dysfunction in diabetes. The SSSD meeting also consists of two Young Investigators' Awards, The Novo Nordisk Foundation Lecture for 2008 and 2009 as well as the Knud Lundbæk Lecture. For young scientists, there will be possibilities for travel grants and oral presentations.

Please note that the total number of participants will be limited due to capacity limitations at the Solstrand Hotel. We therefore recommend that you register for the conference as soon as possible and no later than March 10th 2009. Registrations made after that date will be subject to availability. Please note that there will be no reimbursement in case you cancel your registration after March 10th 2009.
