Project start-up meetings

The lab animal facility wants to ensure that the research groups get the best possible cooperation with our units from the beginning of a project. We must also ensure that the quality of animal welfare are implemented from the beginning.

Our staff has much to contribute with that will make the planning and implementation of projects as good as possible both for the animals, for the safety of the personnel involved, and for the research results. Experience shows that uncertainty can easily be avoided in good communication right from the start of the project, and misunderstandings will be eliminated early.

We have therefore introduced compulsory project start-up meetings, where those involved in the project come to the lab animal facility and have a meeting with the involved research technicians, before the project is initiated. (After that you have gotten approval in FOTS to go through with the project.)
Here we inform you of what the lab animal unit can help with, information on the care and attention the animals will receive, routines in order of animals and medication, access control, HSE aspects and more. Those who are unfamiliar with the unit can be shown the facility if desired. Moreover, we will go through a checklist in order to highlight the needs that may come during the project, so that all parties are prepared and problems will not arise along the way due to lack of space, equipment or personnel.

Contact the lab animal facility and ask for a startup meeting if the facility has not contacted you first, after that you have gotten the approval of the project. It is a great advantage if all involved persons are present at the project meeting.
Projects that have already been initiated are also welcome to arrange a meeting, if you feel that it could be useful, or if you feel that communication with the lab animal facility is lacking.
