Admission of Exchange Students

International students can apply as exchange students if they are nominated by their home universities for a period of study abroad (1 or 2 semesters). The University of Bergen offers a large number of courses taught in English at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Exchange students


If an exchange agreement does not exist between your university and the University of Bergen, you are not eligible for admission as an exchange student.

International students may apply for housing at one of the student hostels. This should be done in the housing application period.

  • Bilateral

    Students from all continents at universities and colleges that have a Bilateral student exchange agreement with the University of Bergen may apply for exchange.

  • Erasmus

    Students at universities and colleges within the EU and EFTA countries may apply for exchange through the Erasmus programme.

  • Nordplus

    Students in Nordic countries may apply for exchange through the NORDPLUS programmes (for universities and colleges in the Nordic countries).
