An obligatory information meeting will be arranged for first time exchange programme/short term students applying for courses at beginner level. Detailed information about Norwegian courses will be send to all student with granted admission.
Information for Full degree students (Quota, self-financed master and other full degree students)
Norwegian courses are given in addition to degree courses and are not a requirement to obtain a degree.
Full degree students, are not given admission to Norwegian courses during their first semester of studies. This is because residence permit is given based on admission to full degree studies and not to Norwegian courses equalling to a half semester work load. Admission to our Norwegian courses is not a sufficient basis for a student resident permit.
However, if your academic progress is satisfactory after the first semester, you will be entitled to apply for Norwegian courses in the second semester of your studies.
Please note that master students are not given admission to the intensive courses with a full semester workload.
What can I apply for
Courses are offered at different levels and with either regular or intensive progression.
Regular progression: Are offered at level 1,2,3 and 4. These courses may be attended along with other studies or as part of the regular study programme for non-degree students and cover one level in one semester.
Level NOR-U4 - Higher level. Applicants must have a grade of C or better in order to be qualified for this course.
*Please note that level 4 will be offered in the spring semester only if there are enough applicants for the course.
Intensive courses: Are offered at level 1/2 and 2/3. The intensive courses require considerably more work than the regular courses and cover two levels in one semester.
Students with some basic knowledge of the language or students with Germanic language background, may choose the intensive courses.
Please note that master students are not given admission to the intensive courses with a full semester workload.
Please note that the Nor-U2/3 course has a limited number of seats. Applicants must have a grade of C or better in order to be qualified for this course.
