Important Health Information


The Health authorities have requested that the following information is conveyed to all new short-term students intending to stay more than 3 months in Norway, Master's degree students included.

The Health authorities have requested that the following information is conveyed to all new short-term students intending to stay more than 3 months in Norway, Master's degree students included.

Upon arrival in Bergen the Health authorities require that all students in need of a residence permit (except students from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech repuplic, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nordic countries, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA) should visit Haukeland University Hospital, the Chest X-ray Unit for tuberkulosis control.  This visit to the hospital is part of the compulsory registration procedures for international students, and will be taken care of during the Introductory Week for new students.

Persons exempted from tuberculosis control according to the above list will still have to present themselves for control if they have been residing in other countries.

Students comming later than semesterstart, have to visit the Office for Prevention of Infectious Diseases to be referred to the Chest X-ray Unit at Haukeland University Hospital.

Please note that your residence permit will not be valid without final clearance from the Health authorities.
