BBB seminar: Thomas Becker

A high throughput search for cis-regulatory regions in the zebrafish genome

Main content

Enhancer detection, the generation of transgenic metazoans by random insertion of reporter genes, has hitherto been possible only in Drosophila and Arabidopsis. This talk will introduce a technology allowing large-scale enhancer detection in a vertebrate genome. I will give an overview of the current status of an ongoing screen at the Sars Centre and will discuss our findings with respect to gene regulation in vertebrates as well as its implications on vertebrate genome sciences.
