The semester programme Chinese Law Studies with Clinical Placement in China was established in 2016, and had its startup in the spring semester 2017. The students who participate combine studies in Beijing or Shanghai with an internship at a Norwegian or Chinese company. The faculty is the first legal institution in Norway to offer such a programme.

Included in the semester programme is a 60-hour introductory course in Chinese language and culture, developed by the Confucius Institute in Bergen. The course ends with a language test in February, before the students travel to China in March. In China the students will take four to five law courses equivalent to 20 credits at one of the Faculty of Law in Bergen's parnter law schools in Shanghai or Beijing.

The internship will have a duration of five weeks (25 days), and gives ten ECTS credits. This provides the students with valuable work experience in an international environment, and the students will experience how the law works in practice.
