His main focus has been prevention of HIV, which is and has been a major health challenge in this country. He has established an academic partnership with University of Zambia (UiZ). This has earlier led to the development of a master programme in epidemiology at UiZ.  Today we see the result: A School of Public Health has been established in Lusaka, at UiZ.

This is a great achievement and Centre for International Health congratulates professor Knut Fylkesnes in his efforts over many years. This is the type of partnership we want to develop, and the achievement here is a good example for other researchers working with development issues.
