Course description

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student ..

- has a basic understanding of imaging thyroid nodules, parathyroid glands and lymph nodes with ultrasound and with radioactive tracers

- understands the principles behind different treatment strategies for thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and hyperparathyroidism

Skills

The student ..

- can perform a basic ultrasound examination of the neck

- can visualize and interpret PET/CT in dedicated software

- can work out a surgical treatment plan for thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and hyperparathyroidism

- can write a requisition for pathology examination

- can provide constructive feedback to colleagues

General competence

The student ..

- understands how the clinical presentation and imaging determine surgical treatment

- understands to which degree protocols for diagnosing and treating patients are based on clinical studies

Required Previous Knowledge
Have attained Bachelor of Medicine.
Recommended Previous Knowledge
Radiology: gastroradiology (6th term), endocrinology (8th term), surgery (6th and 8th term)

Teaching and learning methods
