Objectives and Content
Objective: The goal of the course is to convey an understanding of the properties of strongly interacting (QCD) matter
Content:The course includes models for heavy ion collisions, kinematics, correlations, equation of state for nuclear matter, particle production in nuclear collisions, phase transitions, quark-gluon plasma and its experimental signature.
On completion of the course
the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
The student should have
- an thorough overview over heavy ion physics at medium and high energies
- a broad basis for further experimental and theoretical studies
Required Previous Knowledge
Minimum 60 ECTS in physics

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
