Objectives and Content

The curriculum which includes an introduction to basic plasma physics theory includes:

Single particle physics, collisions and electrical conductivity, kinetic theory, magnetohydrodynamics, flows and boundaries, and plasma waves. The course is targeting master level students in space plasma physics.

Learning Outcomes

At time of completion the student is required to understand and explain:

- The movement of charged particles in the Earth magntosphere

- The role of collisions, sources and losses in the magnetosphere

- The cause of electrical currents flowing in the magnetosphere

- Plasma wave propagation

- The basic set of equations in space plasma physics as well as aply these to solve basic problems
