PhD candidate Siddharth Shanbhag won this year’s Nordic Hatton Award at the CED-IADR/NOF Oral Health Research Congress that took place in Vienna, Austria this September. Siddharth won the award for his presentation "Characterization of Human Gingiva-derived Progenitor Cells in Serum-free Cultures". The second winner was Victor Tollemar from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. The winners will participate at the IADR General Session in London in July 2018.

Siddharth Shanbhag is a PhD candidate at the Department of Clinical Dentistry. His research project aims to characterize stem/progenitor cells from oral tissues and to optimise humanised (animal serum-free) culture conditions for their expansion and differentiation. He is a member of Tissue Engineering research group at the department.
