Finn Gunnar Nielsen receives the Global Energy Award for the Hywind project

With 177 participating countries, Energy Globe is the biggest platform for sustainability and the world’s No 1 environmental award. Their most important goal is to introduce and award innovative showcase projects and smart technologies from all over the world that are capable of creating sustainable change. Finn Gunnar Nielsen and Statoil ASA won the 2010 edition for their Hywind pilot project. The deadline for submitting projects for the 2016 edition is the 6th of December.

The Energy Globe Award is presented annually to outstanding and sustainable projects in the area of environment and energy. Awards are presented on the national level and on the international level in 6 categories: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Youth and Sustainable Plastics. International award recipients of each category are honored in a ceremony that is broadcast all over the world. Furthermore, a prize pool of € 10,000 is divided among the winners.
​Projects focused on the conservation of resources, improvement of air and water quality, energy efficiency, use of renewable energies, recycling or awareness raising in these areas may be submitted.
