The Division of Research Administration provides service and support to the University of Bergen's (UiB) central management, the faculties, departments, research groups and individuals.
The Division of Research Administration deals with research strategy issues and prepares policy documents for the University Board and the University Research Committee. It works closely with the University Director, the Rector and the Deans of UiB’s six faculties on strategy issues concerning research and research funding, PhD education and mobility as well as on international relations and collaboration. It reports directly to the University Director.
The division acts as a link to national and international councils, funding agencies and collaboration partners namely in connection with initiatives by the Research Council of Norway and the EU Framework programme. In addition to EU funding, the international work includes administering UiB's bilateral university cooperation agreements and participation in programmes, networks and organisations worldwide.
Day-to-day research administrative services cover a broad range of tasks, from assistance in initiating and preparing project proposals for Norwegian and international bodies to issues related to mobility, budgeting, contract negotiations, commercialisation and intellectual property rights.
Director for the Division is Heidi Annette Espedal.
