Pasteurlegatet
Pasteurlegatet shall award a grant on the 27th of December this year to Norwegian scientist who intends to study a topic regarding infectious agents, chemistry or fermentation industry.
The allocation is preferably given to young, active and promising researchers, under the doctoral level. Emphasis is placed on documentation of preliminary results and evaluations of their efforts. Priority is given to specific operational and equipment-related needs, rather than traveling, accommodation, general financial support and publication expenses. It is given rather not support more than twice to the same person. On both counts it is however the possibility of exceptions in special cases.
Applications must include curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages) and a short project description (up to 3 pages). Any award will ordinarily not exceed kr. 15.000,-. Applications should be submitted by November 30th 2017 to Pasteurlegatets secretary Mari Støen, Department of Microbiology, University of Oslo, Oslo University email: mari.stoen@rr-research.no See also Pasteurlegatets website (only in Norwegian)
Monthly greeting - Head of Department Guri Rørtveit
September 2017
This month started with a huge scientific success, as research leader Trond Riise together with postdoc Kjetil Bjørnevik and professor Anders Engeland at IGS published an article in Science: http://science.sciencemag.org/content/357/6354/891.full. The results may have considerable impact on Parkinson’s disease and other neurological diseases, and the paper has received a lot of public attention. Congratulations!
The 2017 Road World Championships, with racing bikes and people everywhere and almost no cars in the city centre, have characterized Bergen the last few weeks. With premises in Jekteviken and Kalfarveien, many of us should be able to bike, walk or use public transportation to work, and contribute further to both public health and a healthy city – living the vision for IGS; Better health, better society. Also, remember that we have electric bikes available for all employees for use between meetings.
