On August 15, I started as a PhD student at the Department of Physics and Technology, where I will work with the Optics and Nuclear Physics group with Børge Hamre as my supervisor. My studies will focus on marine optics linked to environmental monitoring and optical properties of plankton and other particulate matter in the water column.

I am 25 years old and was raised near Fanafjorden south of Bergen. I studied for my bachelor's degree at the Dept. of Physics and Technology here at UiB, but then went abroad for a few years. I first went to Hong Kong as an exchange student towards the end of by bachelor's, and then to exotic Stockholm, where I got my master's in plasma physics. The years abroad were great and taught me a lot, but I am very happy to be back in Bergen. This includes sitting inside and working in Bergen weather, but also cultivating my hobbies, which include outdoor activities like hiking and skiing in the mountains and trail running.
