The Faculty of Law is strongly committed to international collaboration in research and education. We are continuously working targeted at developing cooperative agreements with the best law schools and law faculties around the world to make studies abroad possible for our students and to bring students from all over the world to our faculty to secure an international campus. Today we have more than 150 partners on faculty level. In addition, the faculty and our students benefit from the University of Bergen’s many institutional partnerships.

We firmly believe that a semester or year abroad broadens the students’ perspectives, gives valuable knowledge about foreign laws and legal cultures and provides the students with an international network which will be valuable in their future careers. Also, while learning about foreign law and legal cultures, the students simultaneously increase their understanding and awareness of special characteristics of Norwegian laws and legal culture.

Among the students graduating with a Master of Law degree from the University of Bergen over the last few years, between 40 and 50 % had spent a semester or a year abroad as part of their degree.
