Bergen Academy of Art and Design and the Grieg Academy, at the University of Bergen, will become an entirely new faculty for art, music and design. This faculty will include all the subject areas currently present in the two.

Both boards at KHiB and UiB have recommended to merge together. The Ministry of Education and Research has allocated 5 million Norwegian Kroner to the work in conjunction with the merge between KHiB and UiB in 2016.

- UiB and KHiB display quality in an array of areas which can complement each other after the merge is completed, and I have high expectations that the merge will make the subject areas better equipped to take on challenges and possibilities in the years ahead. The 5 million will be a financial contribution to a secure a good merging process, says Minister of Education and Research, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen in a press release. (Norwegian)
