Digital Culture / Humanistic Informatics: We are changing our name in 2009

In 1985 EDP for humanists was established as a department under the faculty of arts EDP section and was first and foremost further education in EDP for teachers. The special field evolved and the department changed its name to Humanistic Informatics in 1995, still with the main focus on humanist’s use of computer technology, but with an ever increasing focus on humanistic and cultural critical analysis on computer technology and the relationship between the technology and society. In this day we no longer have to teach the humanists how to use computers. The technology has spread to all areas of our society and today we are living in a digital culture. During 2009 Humanistic Informatics will change its name to Digital Culture.
