The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has established a Core Facility for Metabolomics in collaboration with Bergen Hospital Trust and the Western Norway Regional Health Authority. It was opened May 4th, 2012, and is located in the Laboratory building at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway.

The research laboratory is equipped with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry units, which are used to establish methods for the quantification of small (< 2 000 Da) molecules.

Methods are well suited for biobank studies and for studies on metabolic networks, but other projects may be relevant.
