In new study published by researchers at the Department for Global Public Health and Primary Care they found a bidirectional relationship between C-section and the time it takes for a couple to conceive.

Early life gene epimutation may cause breast cancer (06.12.2023)
UiB research reveals that around 20 per cent of all cases of the most severe form of breast cancer may arise from the small group of normal tissue cells carrying an epimutation of a specific gene.

Prestigious recognitions to Lars A. Akslen and CCBIO (04.12.2023)
The regional health authority Helse Vest’s Research Award 2023 goes to Professor Lars Andreas Akslen and CCBIO for ground-breaking research on cancer biomarkers. Akslen has also been subject to another prestigious recognition this fall, as he was recently elected as member of the Academia Europaea.

Investigating new treatment strategies for cervical cancer (03.12.2023)
Mari Kyllesø Halle received a frame allocation of NOK 8 million in the Researcher Projects 2023 call from the Norwegian Cancer Association, for the project "Decoding the Landscape of Cancer Vulnerabilities in high-risk Cervical Carcinomas to detect new treatment strategies." CCBIO is proud to see this CCBIO Masterclass alumna as a project leader for the first time.

Emmet McCormack will be part of the new COST Action IMMUNO-model, where a network of scientists involved in the development and implementation of preclinical models evaluating the response and toxicity induced by immunotherapies, is challenged to expand our knowledge in their mechanisms of action and improve the survival and quality of life of cancer patients.

About half of children with celiac disease have problems with enamel damage. UiB researchers have now found that the cause is an immune reaction to one of the most common proteins in cow’s milk.

It is about bones, stem cells and growth factor stimuli in tissue when dentist and postdoctoral fellow Siddharth Vivek Shanbhag explains his research. Last week he received Helse Vest's Young Researcher award, for the studies he is doing on the regeneration of bone defects.

Can pulmonary disease be prevented in the dentist's chair? (22.11.2023)
PhD-candidate Anders Røsland presented the topic "Can pulmonary disease be prevented in the dentist's chair?" at The National Convention for the Norwegian Dental Association. At the Department of Clinical Dentistry, University of Bergen, a clinical study is in progress investigating whether treatment of periodontitis affects lung function and lung inflammation.
