What was your background when you started studying system dynamics

I studied at the Technical University in Delft (Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management)

Why did you choose to study System Dynamics?

After completing my master in Delft I was looking for more depth and specialization. During my studies I spend my thesis focusing on using system dynamics for modeling the social security system and got enthusiastic. So going to Bergen was a natural choice for specializing.

What are your fondest memories from the time you spent studying System Dynamics at UiB?

I really enjoyed the whole Bergen experience (relaxed atmosphere, nice international student community, good education, the hills, the Friday evening drinks etc)

What was the topic for you Master Thesis?

Modeling urban development building on the work of Jay Forrester

Where are you working today?

I am working as a strategy consultant at Deloitte in the Netherlands. We work very closely with public traded customers on their strategic decision making. The biggest challenge is gain insight quickly into new topics.

How has your education been relevant for you in your working life?

Very relevant. Providing strategy advise requires to have a sharp picture (model) of reality and thinking through what the result of different options would be.

Would you recommend others to take a degree in System Dynamics? And if yes, why?

Always. Nice international environment and challenging program.
