I did my specialisation in biostratigraphy, stable isotopes and organic maturation. As part of my PhD work I worked with palynomorphs such as acritarchs, cryptospores and spores, from the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian and Carboniferous of Portugal (Ossa Morena and Central Iberian Structural Tectonic Zones).

Now with my post-doctoral project I am developing a new palynomorph biozonal scheme for the lower part of the Carboniferous succession of the Barents Sea.

Since August 2014 I have also assumed the position of Secretary of the Spore and Pollen Subcommission for the Commission Internationale Microflore Paleozoique.

Early Carboniferous Stratigraphy of the Barents Sea

 With this project we aim to develop a new palynomorph biozonal scheme for the lower part of the Carboniferous succession of the Barents Sea. The clastic-dominated Mississippian succession contains amazing palynological assemblages that will allow us dating and correlating this part of the succession, as well as, will provide important information for paleoclimatic and palaeogeographic interpretations.
