My research is mostly concerned with the application of high-resolution multinuclear (1H, 13C, 15N) og multidimensional (2D/3D) NMR-spectroscopy of isotopically enriched (13C, 15N) proteins in solution and 2D NMR spectroscopy of proteinbinding peptides. The NMR spectra can give us information about structure of molecules, dynamical processes (exchange) and interactions between for instance larger biomolecules and smaller ligand molecules. I am mainly interested in the methodological aspects of NMR spectroscopy, and I am working with NMR spectroscopy applied to many areas within chemistry.

Teaching

I am currently teaching the following courses:

KJEM100 / Chemistry in nature

KJEM306 / NMR Spectroscopy II

Master projects

NMR spectroscopy of proteins and peptides: Master projects are offered within the application of high resolution multinuclear (1H, 13C, 15N and others) and multidimensional (1D, 2D and 3D) NMR spectroscopy applied to proteins, peptides and smaller molecules that are interacting with proteins. NMR spectroscopy can give us important information about the function and working mechanisms of the protein at the molecular level in solution. This include structural information about the active sites, the binding of peptides and smaller molelcules (such as substrates, cofactors, inhibitors and drug molecules) and dynamical processes (the exchange of smaller ligand molecules). The choise of NMR-methods and post-processing procedures will depend strongly on the kind of information sought in each case.

This research is a cooperation with the department of Molecular Biology.
