Bergen Technology Transfer AS (BTO)
BTO assists members of the scientific staff at the University of Bergen (UiB) with innovative projects and commercialisation of research results.
UiB is a co-owner of Bergen Technology Transfer (BTO) and has given BTO the responsibility of contributing to the realisation of scientific research results or ideas that may be beneficial for individuals, the market and society at large.
BTO’s main field is business development. Their work includes contributing to the evaluation of the innovative and commercial potential of the project, providing assistance with funding, considering patenting, providing legal assistance when negotiating licensing agreements and making contracts with existing industry, finding cooperative partners, establishing new companies and providing marketing assistance.
BTO cooperate with The Division of Research Management regarding applications, agreements and contracts for externally financed projects with innovative potential at UiB.

BTO is owned by the University of Bergen (33,4 %), Helse Bergen HF (40 %), Siva (14,8 %), Institute of Marine Research (14,5 %) Bergen University College (3,8 %) and has cooperative agreements with the majority of other research institutions in Bergen.
