Norman G. Finkelstein ​is a public intellectual ​and political activist. His areas ​of specialization ​are​ the Israel-Palestine conflict and ​the Holocaust. He has also written on Gandhi's doctrine of nonviolence and is currently writing a book on academic freedom.

Michael Alvarez of UiB's Department of Comparative Politics will hold an extensive interview and discussion with Professor Finkestein which will focus on the following topics: Finkelstein's body of academic work, its purpose and contribution; Finkelstein's research methodology and methods for dissecting, analyzing and critiquing some central scholarly texts on the Israel-Palestine conflict; the role of a public intellectual; contemporary developments amongst political activists involved in matters concerning Israel and Palestine and Finkelstein's place within; Finkelstein's career as a professional academic.
