The properties, fate and effects of particles in the nano-range in biologic systems

Main content

Concerns about nanoparticles (NPs) have been raised because they have greater biological activity due to their small size, high number/mass, and large active surface area. Physicochemical factors such as NPs structure, shape, surface area, and surface charge influence the toxic effects. Investigations made by the Nanotoxicology group in Bergen have shown how these physicochemical factors influence uptake of NPs.
