The project aims to enhance the teaching and laboratory capacity at the University of Juba in Souther Sudan, through the establishment of new courses and laboratories in basic sciences. There will be three main laboratories and activities. These include a joint biology/chemistry laboratory, computers/communications lab and a geo-lab. The Department of Earth Science will be involved in the establishment of a Geo-Lab with three main elements, seismology, geology and meteorology. Various equipments will be installed for monitoring earthquakes, weather and conducting basic geological lab and field studies. In addition specific courses will be developed in seismology, geology and meteorology and will be given in Juba.
