The overall objective of the research group is clinical research on health and developement in children at risk and medical care of diseased children. Research areas are pediatric interventions, short- and long-term outcome related to fetal and neonatal period, growth, organ function and general development in the young. Research methods include follow-up of cohorts, clinical trials and register based studies.

The group cooperates closely with the Department of Paediatrics at Haukeland University Hospital and Stavanger University Hospital as well as Helse Fonna and Helse Førde. In addition there is broad cooperation with other research groups locally as well as nationally and internationally. 

The coordinator of the group is professor Camilla Tøndel.
