As part of the joint international course of “Chinese Politics in a Globalized World” the delegation participated in a two day workshop hosted by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA) and the Nordic Centre at Fudan University. Bringing together leading scholars from Fudan University, University of Bergen, Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) and other institutes, the workshop offered unique opportunities for exploring research collaboration and for discussing the critical agendas of comparative political studies and their implications to China studies. Sessions covered welfare state issues, party politics, civil society, political economy and legality and research methods. The hospitable atmosphere at the Nordic Centre created a good environment for discussions and lay ground for establishing new contacts and further research collaboration.

On April 10th, the delegation visited the Department of Politics at East China Normal University (ECNU) where a new cooperation agreement was signed. The agreement offers exciting possibilities for teacher and student exchange as well as joint research projects and other academic activities. It is a central goal of UiB and the Department of Comparative Politics internationalization strategy to strengthen relations with Chinese universities. This new agreement therefore offers very interesting opportunities for closer cooperation with one of the most prestigious universities in China. With its two grand campuses, ECNU has long been called the "Garden University" for its beautiful campus surroundings.
