Main content

In order to increase your knowledge about the politics for children welfare in Norway we have invited The Children Welfare Service (CWS) to UiB. The Norwegian name for CWS is Barnevernet.

They will talk about their services regarding children and parents, and give you a general overview of the services they offer.

The mission of CWS is expressed in the Child Welfare Act of 1992"to ensure that children and young people who live in conditions that can harm their health and development are given the necessary help and care at the right time" and "to help children and young people have a safe childhood".

Some of the topics the CWS representatives are going to talk about:

-          How the child welfare service works

-          The role and the goal of CWS

-          Assistance in the home

-          Violence/ Physical punishment

-           Parents rights

-          The county social welfare board

International employees and guests at UiB and their spouse/partner are welcome to the seminar. We strongly encourage the participants to be active during the seminar, since this is an area of society which may be difficult to find information about on your own.

The CWS representative cannot talk about individual cases, but can give you general information on how they deal with different issues and how to get more information about this.

NB: A light meal will be served!
