Ole Johan Mjøs - Medier og globalisering


Ole J. Mjøs is a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, Norway. He is an Honorary Research Fellow in Sociology, Lancaster University, UK, in 2009/2010, and was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Global Communication Studies, Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania, USA, Spring 2009.

His work focuses on the study of the relationships between media, communications and globalization. Ole is the author of the book Media Globalization and the Discovery Channel Networks (Routledge, 2010), and is currently working on his next monograph on the Internet and media globalization also for Routledge. His work will also appear in amongst other the journals Media, Culture and Society, and the International Communication Gazette. Prior to taking up his Post Doctoral position he completed a year long research project, funded by the Norwegian Media Authorities, titled, The Norwegian Public Broadcasters Television Channel for Children and Disney Channel Norway: Media Globalization in Norway. He has presented his work in the US, UK, France and Lithuania.

Ole received his PhD in Media and Communications from University of Westminster, UK, in 2007, and an MA in Transnational Communications and the Global Media, Goldsmiths College, University of London, in 2003. His previous professional experience in the media and creative industries includes work in television documentary production, and contributions on many records within the wide genre of electronic music.
